A brand new South Carolina poll conducted by Winthrop University which screened and polled only registered voters shows a tightening race in the GOP primary.

The poll was conducted 11/30 – 12/7 and  places Ted Cruz at an all time SC polling high at 16% and puts him for the first time in 2nd place in the state.  Cruz sits just 8 points behind the leader, Donald Trump who is at 24%, with Ben Carson at 14%, Marco Rubio 11%, Jeb Bush at 9%, with all other candidates falling at or below 2%.

It’s been a good week all around for Ted Cruz in numerous polls.  A new Iowa poll this week showed Cruz having surged to take a 5 point lead over Trump (24-19), and a new poll released yesterday show Cruz having surged to 2nd place  in North Carolina, as well as 3 of the last 4 national polls placing Cruz in second place and at or above 16%.

Cruz also scored a major SC straw poll win Monday evening, winning the state’s largest county GOP organization, Greenville County GOP’s December straw poll of their executive Committee:  Cruz 43%, Bush 16%, Rubio 13%, Trump 13%, With all others taking 5% or less.

Yesterday Cruz secured the endorsements of conservative icon and pioneer, Richard Vigurie, as well as the National Organization for Marriage, and Cruz is expected to get the coveted endorsement of Iowa Kingmaker, Bob Vander Plaats and his conservative organization The Family Leader later today.
