US Senator Ted Cruz, the only announced candidate so far in the 2016 presidential race will be spending his Easter weekend in South Carolina.

Cruz will be joined by his wife Heidi and their two children, Catherine and Caroline.

The Senator will be spending most of his time in the upstate with events on Friday including a late morning town hall meeting in Rock Hill at the Holiday Inn hosted by the York County GOP, an afternoon “Cruz-In” meet & greet at the Beacon in Spartanburg hosted by the Spartanburg County GOP, and then an evening reception in Greenville at the Poinsett Club hosted by the upstate Republican Women’s club.

On Saturday morning Cruz will be joining pastors and their wives from around the state for a round table meeting in Columbia, and then in the evening he will join the Aiken Republican club for a meeting.

The Cruz campaign says that the Senator will also be holding private workshop meetings with his grassroots volunteer leadership team while in state.  Campaign officials say that instead of focusing on the hiring of expensive DC based political consultants, Cruz is seeking advice and leadership directly from his grassroots support base and making in-state hires to manage his state campaigns.

Michele Bunker, a conservative activist from Aiken plans to attend the Saturday evening Aiken event with Cruz.  Bunker told us that, ” I am excited to have Senator Cruz visit Aiken this Saturday.  I look forward to hearing his message of liberty and freedom. I am eager to hear a politician who is not ashamed of his faith in Jesus Christ. I know that when Aiken hears the ideas and vision that Senator Cruz has for America, they will be impressed with a man who embodies the American Dream. ”

Cruz announced his candidacy last Monday at Liberty University.  A new CBS poll published on Sunday, and a Fox News poll published Monday both show that Cruz seems to be gaining some momentum since his announcement.  Both polls indicate a 14% rise for Cruz compared to the same polls one month ago.

Cruz’s full event schedule is pasted below.
