We all know this truth: If you put a frog in boiling water, it will immediately jump out to save itself. However, put that frog in cool water and slowly increase the temperature, it allows itself to be boiled to death. America has become that boiling frog. It has taken the past few decades, but we are at the point of near death. Who would have imagined, looking forward from only three decades ago that America would see almost half its new babies born out of wedlock (From only around 15% in 1983.) Who would have imagined that our debt would move well beyond $16 trillion with no end in sight? (in 1983 it was only about 1/10th that amount) Who would have imagined that a US President would passionately fight for homosexual marriage, force open homosexuality upon the military, and even use his bully pulpit to push homosexuality upon the Boy Scouts? (Ronald Reagan was President in 1983 and never wavered from Christian values) Who would have imagined over $40 million Americans receiving food stamps? We are boiling fast, but how did we get to this point and how do we stop?
First, let’s review the past 50 years. In 1963, the radical Left forced God and prayer from our nation’s schools. Liberal Courts convinced many Americans the Constitution demanded a “Wall of Separation”, despite clear evidence to the contrary and the omission of those words from the Constitution itself. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, the progressive Left pushed states toward no-fault divorce. In 1973, the Left used the Supreme Court to “interpret” a non-existent Constitutional right to abortion. In the 1970s and 80s, the radical Left continued its assault on traditional values through bad precedence. “Progressive” brainwashing aimed at our public school children, pushed to convince a generation of Americans to question our founding values. Most Public invocations/benedictions, religious public displays, public prayers, etc. where stripped from America by the late 1990s. With Hollywood as an ally, they slowly worked on demeaning traditional American values while promoting deviancy as the “new normal.” That is where we are today.
The results have been absolutely horrendous. As we have seen, single parenthood moved from just around 15% in 1983 to over 40% now. Divorce quadrupled from the 1960s (even with the ballooning number of unmarried couples.) This breakdown of the American family brought all the expected results: Crime has risen exponentially. Government dependency, with its direct effect on the National Debt, has grown exponentially. Drug use, teenage sex, etc. All this occurred slowly enough though most people were unaware of the “boiling.”
Ominous signs show the impending decline of Christianity. On present course, we will become a post-Christian nation within 10 years. Though 35% of adult Americans consider themselves evangelical Christian, only 4% of teenagers identify with this group. Most studies have shown that 90% of adult evangelicals came to their faith by age 20. Therefore, unless current teenagers are exposed to Christianity within the next 5 to 10 years, we can expect to become similar to Europe: Only 1 out of 20 people going to Church on a regular basis. In Europe, the demise of Christianity has come at a steep cost: Birthrates have plummeted, “Marriage” as an institution is fading, and Socialism has become pervasive with consequential economic implosions in places like Greece.
Americans must act quickly and passionately to prevent the impending implosion. First, we must recognize we were a nation blessed by following Christian principles. Not Theocracy, but laws and government driven by Biblical mandates. Next, we must have a strong conservative Party willing to stand up for comprehensive conservative values; not only economic conservative values, but all conservative values. Many in the Republican Party are attempting to mimic the Tory Party of the United Kingdom: Stand only for moderately conservative economic principles, but dismiss “Christian” values. As part of this movement, some “Republicans” have even decided to join the fight to make gay marriage a Constitutional right. Conservative Americans must make clear that loyalty to any party takes a back-seat to values critical to saving America. The Republican Party must either stand for comprehensive conservative values, or implode and another party will rise to represent the conservative movement.
“All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” The time for talk is over. If good Americans don’t fight back, and insist our leaders fight to turn it around, this nation will implode within the lifetime of our children. The writing is on the wall in every way possible, and we have a duty to fight. The Republican Party is on notice that conservatives will not allow the misguided aim of pleasing all groups by compromising our souls. If we stand up for Truth, some groups will not like us and we must be prepared for that backlash. The burgeoning national debt, threatening our national security, is directly tied to the breakdown of our values. The debt will continue to expand as long as we continue toward decadency in America. Our nation is better than this. Our children deserve better than this.
